In the production of NMC precursor material an extremely high purity of the components is a decisive criterion. The fully automatic and continuously working indexing belt filters from BHS-Sonthofen are perfectly suited for this task. A highly pure end product is achieved through efficient filtration and multiple countercurrent washing. Indexing belt filters are also used in other applications in the battery sector, such as the processing of graphite in battery recycling.

Batteries and accumulators are popular worldwide for renewable energy storage. But as production increases, so does the need for recycling methods. These methods should both recover the maximum amount of raw materials while ensuring the highest level of safety. We have developed a novel and safe mechanical recycling process for lithium-ion batteries: Lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese (NMC), and other components of the batteries can thus be recovered efficiently.

Compared to conventional thermal oil-heated dryers, the electrically heated systems from BHS achieve significantly higher process temperatures of up to 650 °C. Contamination of the product by high-temperature thermal oil is impossible. The dryer is particularly suitable for the ternary cathode materials production that requires high product homogeneity. The system is designed as a compact unit with the complete heating device and control unit integrated on a single frame for convinient install.
